For these roles, we are looking for people who closely match the person pictured in the reference photo.
We will be considering:
• Height
• Build / body type
• Hair color + style (willing to change it)
• Skin tone / complexion
• General physical appearance
• Clothing / wardrobe measurements

You do not need to look exactly like the person facially, but your overall physical appearance, coloring, hair, height and build need to be close enough to double for them on camera.

Several of the military and law-enforcement roles will be wearing existing period uniforms, which means we cannot simply wardrobe every size.
If you select one of those roles, we will ask for your CURRENT and ACCURATE measurements in the form.

The men's uniform inventory includes waist sizes 34, 36, 38 and 40; jackets from 42 through 48 in regular/long options; neck sizes 15.5 through 18; and shoes from size 9 through 12.

Shoe: 6–9
The women's Air Force inventory is built around bust measurements of 34–38 and skirt waists of 28–32, with Small–Large shirts and shoes in the 6–9 range.

Many of our already-booked groups are featured, recurring, matching, close to camera or important to specific scenes. Many of you are working this day already.
And within those groups, individuals may also be placed in more featured positions depending on what Production needs.
We are always submitting everyone for these upgraded opportunities.

I am not trying to hide that, it’s a sad moment in the history of our country as we pay respect to those Astronauts in 1986. Come be a part of this- and it’s on a Sunday, very organized production - our last big day was a pleasure :)

👗 FITTINGS
A costume fitting will be required this coming week 9/27 - 10/1 for booked background performers. This is an important part of creating the correct period look for each scene.
👞 WARDROBE
Costumes will also provide a specific list of clothing, shoes and/or accessories to bring from home, and we would LOVE your help with this! The more period-appropriate options we have to work with, the better we can build this world together.
✂️ HAIR + FACIAL HAIR
If you’re interested in working on CHALLENGER, please STOP cutting your hair at this time! Longer, grown-out, natural hair gives our Hair & Makeup team much more to work with when creating authentic 1970s and 1980s looks. The same goes for facial hair — let it grow!
There are A LOT of different types of roles we’ll be casting throughout this production, and we promise: if your hair and/or facial hair is right for the period and what we’re looking for, we will find a spot for you on this one!

CHALLENGER is a limited series inspired by the true story of the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster, exploring the people, ambitions and decisions surrounding America’s space program in the years leading up to the 1986 tragedy and its aftermath.
Spanning the 1970s through the late 1980s, the series is set against a transformative era in American history, from the evolution of NASA and the Space Shuttle program to the culture, fashion and everyday life of the period.
Casting TaylorMade is seeking MANY different types of background performers to help us tell this story as authentically and historically accurately as possible.
And you know how much we LOVE creating an 1980s world! We’re bringing it 110% for this production, and we’d love your help making this world as authentic as possible.
